an afternoon of non-competitive sports...

or sports day to you and me. Isaac had his first school sports day, he did really well. They were in teams according to their 'house' mixed up with all the other years. It was so lovely to see the big boys looking after the little ones. Isaac seemed to really get into it. There were some very fast year 6 boys in his group who were shouting him on and giving him high fives. His 'house' won overall so he was particularly pleased and buzzing from the whole morning.

these two...

have known each other since the day they were born. Funny to think that they are now both at the end of their first year of school. Time clatters on without any regard for us mums desperately trying to capture and hold in our hearts these little moments. So good to see our dear friends this weekend.

we rose and shone...

with an element of style. It was good fun but slightly scary. 900 children in a tennis court all dressed the same thats got to be a teacher's nightmare right? The old world record...9000..the number of kids doing rise and shine round liverpool this morning..over 25,000.

heart on her sleeve, emotion at full tilt, loving, sweet hearted and sensitive little nearly four year old. Just can't help but love her.

i mean i dont need to tell you....

how ridiculously proud of this boy we are right?

'cos you already know. But this week we got his school report and it was fantastic. There was lots on it and ive got to say kudos to teachers who write 30 odd of these a year...must take some staying power, and a bit of imagination too i reckon ;)
Some of the things i really loved are:

' Isaac loves listening to stories and poems and joining in with the rhymes. Isaac also enjoys talking about his news and the places he has been too'

' He enjoys his number activities and he is very competitive and keen to complete his tasks'

'He often joins in with the discussions about the topics and he has a lot of knowledge to share on many aspects'

'Isaac is confident to try and initiate new ideas'

'He is very animated when talking about his favourite subject of trains'

'Isaac has made great progress and he has been a pleasure to teach'

I have to say i laughed out loud at the 'he has a lot of knowledge to share on many aspects' So typically our boy. :)

Someone commented to me on sunday when were at a bar-b-q that Isaac had been talking quite confidently to her out in the garden by himself even though he didnt know her at all. He has always been like that. Always confident, always exploring. The things that really stood out for me in his report are not his academic achievements but the fact that he gets involved, speaks up and enjoys what he is doing. Like i said, we are proud of our boy.

ten on tuesday...

i know i have pinched that from someone else's blog, but cant remember who?

anyways..onwards

1. 8 more school days till the end of term!!! HOORAH!!!

2. 10 more days till we go on holiday YAY!

3. 10 more days till we go on holiday.....YIKES...so much to do!!

4. Did warm up for world record attempt at rise and shine today, thought it was going to be an easy hour..but no...the teacher asked me why i wasnt sweating at the end of it???

5. Maisie had the king and queen of all tantrums today after tea, starting off something to do with stubbing her toe and then hit warp factor 10. The lodger made a hasty exit...dont blame her :)

6. This next week and a half are so jam packed with things to do, remember, pack etc it makes my head spin just thinking about it.

7. So probably shouldn't be blogging!!!!

8. I had a wonderful little jaunt down memory lane today when guess what came on the radio....
took me right back to school. yeah loved me some spandau...although that video, those white shirts, that dodgy 80's hair.....

9. O2 keep sending me little messages about a certain new little phone that i think is being released on friday. I am tempted, i cannot lie....but.....should i?

10. No need to water the plants round here...the rain has been doing that for us of late. Praying for some really redemptive summer weather in the summer hols...

Really was anyone surprised?

is that mean of me? really though i think he did well but seriously it just wasnt going to happen.....

07/02/2008

no excuses..

im just being lazy, not stopping by so much since last week,or was it even the week before *gasp* and even now, Typepad with all its new jiggery pokery is starting to wind me up and im not even a sentence in....<sigh>

so anyway, ten on tuesday.....or wednesday...

1. We sat with Isaac to watch the final of Euro 2008, he has been asking us about football a lot recently. Not surprising, Liverpool has such a football heritage, he is just coming across it at school. Neither of us are footie fans but we both sat with him for the first half of Spain v Germany. He spent most of the time kind of like this..'whatsthatmandoing?whyaretheredswinning?whenwilltheysoreagoal?whatarethosepeopledoingattheside?whyaretheysad?whydidtheyscore? etc etc. We sent him to bed at half time after Spain has scored and then watched the rest and both were pleasantly entertained....

2. What do you do if its tipping it down with rain? which um..is often...

IMG_9448 get your UV protection suits on and pretend you are swimming at the beach, which is exactly what the girls are doing here, except the 'sea' kept getting all screwed up and not staying 'straight' so in the end was a little bit stressful, so we resorted to watching Hi 5 and their 'summer rainbows' (aussie accent needed there!)
IMG_9455
3. Poppy is teething and has a cold....i dont really need to say anymore do i? :)

4. My love affair with the phil and ted buggy is wearing thin. Dont get me wrong, the idea is awesome but since they got so widespread, ie since mothercare got hold of them. The build quality is a bit questionable.

5. Saw a trailer for the Olympics in between the football and got very excited about it. Ben and I always watch the diving, swimming and gymnastics. Dont really know of GB's hopes really, just like watching the spectacular.

6. Went to a wedding celebration barbie at the weekend for a wonderful guy and his wife from South Africa. He works with Ambassadors in Sport  Havent seen him for a while and he is just the same. The kids had a good time and ate way too much cake!!

7. We are all fed up of school. Only 2 more weeks after this one YAY!

8. We have a new member of the household, a lodger called Hannah.  i think she is settling in. The kids love the novelty at the moment and every teatime is a bit of a hiatus at the moment. I think she is a bit shocked by the time the kids get up!!!

9. The girls helped me make scones today, we did a few 'round' shaped ones and then the girls raided the cookie cutter box and we ended up with a christmas stocking, some stars, tiny heart shapes and an umbrella!!

10. If you are in liverpool check out the superlambanana. These are popping up all over the place and have been personalised by schools, churches, and individual artists. The kids are enjoying seeing them and spotting them, there are two on the way home from school!

thats about all i have. back soon....

love me x
